Observers; M.H., S.B.,
S.H.

On the way to Abu Dis, there was little traffic, either of vehicles
or pedestrians. Afterwards, we realized that was because the
checkpoint at Wadi Nar was closed, and there was no passageway
through the "pishpash".

There was a "flying" checkpoint of the border police on
the way to Maaleh Adumim at Beit Fag that stopped cars and checked
the ID's of the passengers. There was a line of 7 cars, and the
checking process was quick. We did not understand why that place
was chosen as a checkpoint.

On our way back to the university and the hotel, people were freely
climbing over the wall. The Border Police did not interfere, aside
from occasional checks near the gas station. Two people with green
ID's were detained. We met H. from …, and he pointed out to us how
the Palestinians use that institution as a place to cross through.
The gate was open and many people passed through. There are three
places where it is possible to jump through. Two of them are quite
high above the street, and one is of a reasonable height. He told
us about the injuries suffered by people as a result of climbing
over the wall.

On the forested hill opposite, we saw a bulldozer busily working,
protected by a civilian guard.

From 7 until 8 o'clock, there was considerable traffic of school
children and students without any trouble.
