Afternoon

Jubara, Ar-Ras

13:50 – The entrance gate to Jubara is locked. One of the soldiers arrives with the key and opens the gate for us without delay. At the Schoolchildren's Gate two soldiers check vehicles and pedestrians, on their way to and from Jubara, and let them pass. They signal to us to pass.

14:00 – Two soldiers are at Ar-Ras checkpoint on the road that comes from Tulkarm. One soldier is at the post opposite it and another sits in the watch tower. All of them are wearing helmets because of the alerts, as they say. Few cars come from the direction of Tulkarm and are checked briefly by the soldiers. According to the soldiers, there are no restrictions and no apartness [a ban that stops residents of a particular West Bank area from traveling to another].

Anabta

14:30 – The traffic from Tulkarm is fast. The soldiers let cars pass without inspection and there is no line. However, at the entrance to Tulkarm one of the soldiers stops every vehicle and checks documents, which creates a long line of cars. Another soldier joins the southern post and speeds up the passage of the cars and, as a result, the line disappears.
