Closed just like in the good old days
before the hudna. Many people walking. A the bottom of the valley,
were a jeep and a bulldozer. The soldiers stopped the crowd at
gunpoint. They were closing the road so to the wooden carts. The
bulldozer pushed concrete wooden squares into place and dug up the
road some more. The crowd was frightened and angry. People said
things like: "We are being collectively punished, so why
shouldn't we collectively punish you with terrorism?";
"This roadblock is terrorism", etc. We were told that the
way from Surda to Bethlehem was:
Surda-to-Birziet-to-A-Ram-to-Anata-to-Wadi Naar-to-Bethlehem -- an
8 hour ordeal that costs around 150 shekel in fares. That routs has
checkpoints at which those without permits can't pass.
