Qalandya - 12 soldiers at the
checkpoint - very few pedestrians, but many problems. Despite the
fact that there were so few Palestinians - there was a general
atmosphere of disorder and lack of coordination between volunteers'
orders and soldiers' orders. The soldiers' behaviour from the
moment we arrived was rough and aggressive, to us and especially to
the Palestinians - they spoke rudely and often pushed physically.
One of the volunteers said that the soldiers are only 18 with
jumping hormones - what can one expect. There is still a large
number of confiscated vehicles.

Ar-Ram - A very long queue of cars. The soldiers were writing down
ID details of all passengers in each vehicle. Only one line was
open and only 2 soldiers checking. One border policeman said we
could not expect decent behaviour from soldiers who stood in the
heat all day - who have terrible conditions and sleep with ticks at
night - to whom not the smallest respect is given by the
army.
