07:00. A long line of cars both
directions, as well as people waiting to get into Jerusalem. The
checkpoint seemed cleaner than usual and there were even signs in
Arabic prohibiting parking. The commander said there was a closureinfo-icon,
and only humanitarians and the press are allowed to Bethlehem; to
Jerusalem, only people with blue IDs. He is concerned about the
behavior of his soldiers and aware of the issue of human rights.
"They are going to be civilians after this". There was a
relaxed atmosphere at the checkpoint. He turned a blind eye to an
old woman with a lot of bags bypassing the checkpoint, yet sent a
soldier to check her bags.

Al Khadr: Crowded with transits and taxis going to Abu dis,
Ramallah. Bethlehem. A 2 hour trip to Ramallah, according to one of
the drivers. On the way back at the corner of Tantur, the police
and BP were checking cars. They stopped a bus going to Beit Jalla,
had all the passengers get off and checked their IDs. We asked them
to let the people back on the bus, because of the heat. They
obliged. After a while all except one were let go.
