Complete closureinfo-icon. The atmosphere was
fairly calm, but many were not permitted passage. Women over 45 and
men with blue IDs or special permits were let through, but regular
permits were denied. Hardly any car traffic. A group of youngsters
provoked the soldiers long enough for a fight to develop, during
which a shot was fired into the air. A 15 year old boy was
detained. He was put in the shade and not handcuffed, and the
commander promised to give him water and release him shortly. At
the runway near the checkpoint were many confiscated vehicles. We
were told they are not new confiscations, but just moved to that
spot. Apparently, a new instruction from above has stopped the car
confiscations.
