Etzion: Significant changes: 1) The
army unit regularly staffing this checkpoint has been replaced with
a small force of reserve soldiers. Only three of them were engaged
with ID checks, with minimal intervention. 2) All people,
regardless of age or sex, who underwent ID checks were allowed to
proceed northbound. 3) There were no detaineesinfo-icon at the checkpoint
compound, since nobody had to bypass the checkpoint. No IDs were
confiscated from bus passengers. 4) The "punishment cage"
is no longer there.

It is still premature to tell whether the above changes are here to
stay, all the more so given that in three of the major roadblocks
that surround the town of Halhul from all directions, none of the
gigantic barriers of stone, rubble, and dirt have been removed.
Same is true of roadblocks at all other locales in the
district.
