No soldiers at Abu Dis, lots of
pedestrians passing freely in both directions through the open
gate. We drank sweet, cold, fresh lemonade on the east side, for a
song.

Sawahre: 4 border policemen, 8 detaineesinfo-icon. They said they'd been
waiting 3 hours, but apparantly they'd only been waiting one.
Sitting down in the shade. We asked politely when their papers
would be returned, and were told: In 10 minutes. It took 15 -- but
who's counting? The 4 border policemen were polite enough to us,
and efficient enough to the passing traffic. There was plenty of
it, again in both ways, yellow taxis and transits, but all, ALL,
were allowed through. Here and there, on a sampling basis, papers
were looked at, even taken for a check, but most taxis and most
pedestrians were just waved past. "Quiet?" we asked.
"Very", was the answer.
