The way to Abu Dis is clear. No BP
along the wall or at the gate. Our informants, at the gas station
and on both sides of the gate, say "the police has gone on
vacation".

Wadi Nar: Only two BP are at work. Most crossings of cars and
pedestrians are southbound. Checking of papers is relaxed, no
detaineesinfo-icon. The checkpoint down in the wadi is gone. Our transit
driver pointed out the harsh competition between transits with a
yellow plate vs. green. Israeli plate number but green or orange ID
can make a living only if and when the people are stopped at the
checkpoint, since they can only move between checkpoints. Green
plates are permitted to go from Bethlehem all the way to Qalandya,
passing checkpoints. Conflict within a conflict.
