Surda

Huge movement of people in both
directions. Many people went with flowers in their best clothes to
the graduation ceremony in Bir Zeit University. Palestinians are
forced to walk 2 km. For old and disabled this is arduous. Medical
aid was busy transferring disabled people in wheelchairs. There
were two jeeps with soldiers at each end, randomly stopping people,
particularly those with big bags. People had to empty them on the
ground. We met a 74 years old grandmother who had passed 6
checkpoints on her way from Hebron to her grandson's graduation
ceremony. The father of this grandson was killed by IDF 14 years
ago. She had mixed feelings and responses after she learned that
Jewish women assisted her all the way.
