Qalandya: Exemplary occupation.
Perfectly organized checkpoint. We are greeted by the commander in
charge, and get a briefing: No change in orders, in spite of media
reports of "an improvement". Men and women between 16 to
40 years old need a special permit to pass. Children under 16 whose
young age is not evident need to show a birth certificate.
Humanitarian cases are given/denied passage according to soldiers'
discretion. The policy is implemented properly, and soldiers'
behaviour is correct. Car and truck movement is slow but constant.
