06:00 Taibeh - Be'Tach checkpoint.
Along the way were Palestinians walking to wor . The shift of
regular army soldiers looked strikingly young. Their commander was
very rigid. They said there was no curfew and anyone with a working
permit could get through. But no one with a blue ID was let in. A
thin flow of middle aged men did get through. The old mute father
of 12 tried to get through with his bag of herbs, but was held
back. We intervened, and eventually they let him through, not
before a soldier took some from him. We protested, and he at once
handed it back. A woman with a green ID was denied passage:
"Yalla, Yalla". She is married to an Israeli Palestinian
and has children, but was denied "family reunion" by the
Supreme Court. This is her only way - going to be with her family.
We called over, with no success. The soldiers got more and more
agitated, and sent us away, under threat of calling the
police.

Jabbara, 07.30 am. There was a flow of taxis, private cars,
ambulances and pedestrians from both sides - Tulkarm and Nablus.
Every one was checked, taxi passengers had to get out and stand in
line to show their IDs and the vehicle was checked. At times a
queue of 6 to 8 cars was on the waiting line, but eventually all
went through on the bumpy dirt roads. The ambulances were allowed
today on the paved road to Nablus, and also Jabbara inhabitants
were allowed to walk on the paved road back and forth. Taxis picked
up the pedestrians and took them further to their destinations. We
tried to help a horse cart with eggs for sale to get through. For
reasons unknown to us they were denied. First he was told that he
must wait for a special check up (when we came he had already been
waiting an hour in the blazing sun) - he was a middle aged man with
a broken leg from the village Far'un (near Tulkarm). At 8am, the
shift of soldiers, changed and an order came from the army to send
him, and another donkey cart with eggs back. "Eggs are not let
through today".
