Morning

We started at Anata, where there had been a lot of tension at the last few weeks.

At 06:40 there is a lot of traffic of cars, and very few pedestrians. It is very crowded everywhere, but checkup of cars is relatively quick, and therefor there is no traffic jam.

On the southern sidewalk there is now caos.  An armed soldier is posted there. Until lately we were the only ones standing there. Nobody talks to us and we watch quietly.

Wadi Naar 08:40

Two taxis are parked at the side of the road, waiting for the checkup to end. As we arrived there are no cars near the checkpoint, but the system is the accomulating system. They wait until there are "enough" cars and lorrys  on the uphil road, with the foot on the brakes, and only then they release them , without any real checkup.

How many cars are waiting? When we were there we counted about 25 vehicles in every bunch released.

The commander of the checkpoint approached us and requested us not to photograph. Instead of the usual argument we pulled out the document of IDF spokesman that deals with the presence of organizations like us in the checkpoints. This was sufficient at this stage. About half an hour later there was almost no traffic, and we returned to Jerusalem.
