Morning
6:30,  we are at Sheich Saed,   a sad but wellprotected  barrier.  No  one  can get through unless the one B.P.  and two  manpower guards  will allow it.  Most passing people are small children going to school on either side of the barrier.  Some are so small they can not even move the carousell.  A few green  ID's are let in with permits.  In general traffic is very  very thin.  The man that delivers milk products to Sheich Saed is let  through, into the neighbourhood.  We are told that this is beyond the call of duty,  he would really have to go through Zeitun.

We decide to check on the police and Border police presence in East Jerusalem.  unlike the week before, which was  *erev hag*   in the moslem world,  the city around 7:30  is still sleeping.  Very few  people on the street,  the shops are still closed and the schools closed for Christmas.

We walk into Nablus Gate.  Two BPs are stopping passers by ever so often, checking their IDs  and writing their names down(?)   We walk down Nablus road,  then Salah A Din,Women BP  are at two intersections  but traffic moves along undisturbed.

It is a regular weekday in East Jerusalem,  everything is as usual, including the fact that any Policeman/or woman. regular police or BP  can stop you at any moment  and ask you for your ID/ working permit/  staying in Jerusalem permit  and the like.

We returned shortly after 9:00.
