MachsomWatchers: T.S., M.B., J.O.(reporting) and visitor Y.V. 06.30, Abu Dis checkpoint: When we arrived, we found the whole area was devoid of any soldiers. Palestinians were passing freely over the whole length of the wall. While we were near the gas station three trucks arrived, each carrying two concrete slabs for the new wall. The slabs were being deposited in the area behind the hotel where a large number of them have already been placed. The BP did suddenly arrive and detained about 20 Palestinians whose ID's were checked, but after about half an hour they were released. However, people continued to cross the wall further up, and at the pish-pash [pedestrians' roadside passageway], it was business as usual, with a large number of taxis and a continual flow of people crossing the wall. At Sawahre (Wadi Nar), there were only three BP and one blue-uniformed policeman. Very few pedestrians passed and they were not checked. There was a very long line of vehicles in the direction of Sawahre which the soldiers were checking carefully and very slowly. We commented on this, but they didn't seem concerned. The pace then did quicken.
