On Qalandya north, we saw six white, one red and a private car all confiscated last Saturday. B., one of the drivers whose vehicle was confiscated, was the only one that got his car back by using connections with an Israeli working on the border fence at Qalandya. He even didn't pay a fine. The others will have to pay 2000 shekels if and when they get their cars back and they will have to sign a committment to pay 5000 shekels if caught again. All this information we got from B. and the other taxi drivers in north Qalandya. They also said that most of transits with yellow plates had Palestinian orange ID's owners.Pedestrians and cars moved quickly in both directions. At south Qalandya, the brown hut for detaineesinfo-icon was empty, but seven to eight Palestinians caught at Tora Bora were waiting. Another group going north was detained and waiting for ID checking. Both groups were released soon after we arrived. The shed that fell because of the snow, created a narrow difficult passage making the people even more exasperated. Inside the checkpoint, several blue policemen in a blue jeep checked ID's of all colours.Inside the checkpoint, a man {bearded,Hamas kind of appearance},with a blue ID sat on a stool and waited checking. A soldier appeared, took the man and put him in an iron cage, and informed us that the man was sought by defense authorities. All this was conducted in a very quiet and quick manner. One of the volunteers, red bearded with Anglo Saxon accent, tried to chase us out of the checkpoint when we were trying to find out about two detained transits which were released later.CB wanted to distribute the "Letter for the soldier at the checkpoint" written by machsomwatch. N had few copies with her. One soldier took it the other refused it, but later on he asked for it from his friend and we pretended not to look.
