14:10 Shaked (Tura) Checkpoint

Do the "Greens" read our reports? On the way to Shaked Checkpoint we see soldiers collecting garbage into bags, though the dumpsters facing the temporary emplacement  - that was cleared– are still full to the brim. The Shaked position that was clearedlooks clean. Coming up to the festival, there is noticeable lively traffic of families. Taxis arrive at the checkpoint and deposit passengers who are passing into the West Bank. From the opposite direction people are also coming, but fewer. A shepherd with a small flock of sheep passes towards the isolated houses of Tura village.

14:40 Reihan (Bartaa) Checkpoint
The new barrier that greets people crossing Reihan Checkpoint is a reminder to the Palestinians, especially those whose land the checkpoint occupies, of how they used to draw water for free from wells instead of receiving expensive drops from the Mekorot Water Company.
The gardening in the area is developing to sickening dimensions.
At the checkpoint, lively traffic of men, women and children – in honour of the festival (el Adha – the sacrifice). Workers who have been in various places are returning home with bags in their hands, full of goodies as presents to their families. Families are crossing, mothers with children and many young boys. Four of them come over to us to tell their sad tales. We take notes, will try to help. An ambulance from Jenin arrives at the checkpoint to take a seriously injured child from Bartaa. Not clear to us how or what is the injury. Apparently the transfer of the child is being carried out without any special delay.
No vans with agricultural produce like on normal days.
