A cold, blustery, drizzly, gray day. We started in Abu Dis. On the road to the gas station, the municipalityis doing sidewalk renovations, and with Akerstein tiles it looks muchbetter than it used to.The wall was big, threatening -- and deserted. There were no soldiers, and precious few crossing Palestinians. Those who were crossing did so onthe side of the gas station. Up the hill there was not a soul in sight. Also hardly any transits on the other side of the wall. Perhaps it is theclosure, perhaps desperation -- perhaps the wind blew everyone away. Itnearly blew us away.
