Abu-Dis: We arrived to a very quit scene. The army was not visible. Palestinians leaning on the concrete barriers told us that during the early morning hours a BP Jeep (no. 22558) caught workers on their way to a paving job for the Jerusalem Municipality. They were dragged into the car and beaten up severely. The soldiers then took the workers food, threw it on the floor, and smeared the liquids on their heads. One man managed to run away from the beating but his ID was left with the soldiers. Quite logically he was now freightend to approach the jeep for his ID card. We called Safdy and literally begged him to return the card. He promised to call the Jeep and tell them to return the card. He suggested that in the future, we contact MACHASH, the division for investigating police behavior.
