Morning

Three men were standing to the side, waiting. The new shift of border police is taking over. For about 15 minutes there is much chatting, comraderie between the incoming and the outgoing shifts. Only intermittingly are the Palestinians asked to show their ID's. We asked about the three men standing receive a non-commital answer. We ask how long they have been waiting. They said, since 6:00 a.m. Fifteen minutes later the ID's are returned and the men are not allowed to enter. We make our way up the hill,which was bustling with people and taxis for the morning trade. We decide to return through the olive grove. The soldiers were now checking most of the people entering.
