Heavy traffic of pedestrians and vehicles until 16:45 (breaking of the Ramadan fast). Reasonable wait for pedestrians. Long lines for vehicles, because of a woman soldier's "obsession with order. From 17:15 on rather empty. Our main activity in this shift was connected with trying to retrieve confiscated IDs. Contrary to the determined declarations of IDF officers and commanders about the illegality of this act, IDs are confiscated daily, by soldiers and policemen, and often never returned (because they cannot be found or got lost in transferring them from one place to the other). In Qalandya South, there were three taxi drivers waiting for their IDs and after ourintervention, 2 IDs were returned at about 16:20. The third ID, which was confiscated at 14:30, was not found. We called the checkpoint commander three times and he told us that the ID was on its way to the checkpoint. After that his telephone was not accessible any more and the ID did not "arrive" at Qalandya. The Moked was involved and we called the district commander and spoke with his aide who was "shocked" to hear that an ID was lost. We called the DCO commander who promised to investigate this case. I called him again the next morning and he declared that he is indeed investigating and that they will have to think of "what to do with these soldiers" (!) We will follow up and write a complaint.
