Afternoon

Beit Iba
We tried to get into the line of cars waiting on the road to Beit Iba. A great commotion of army personnel,…..maybe a change in shifts. Our friends from the Ecumenical movement were also there. A soldier checked parcels of  male students returning home on a table. I phoned the center and asked if it was right that a woman soldier should check parcels of males and was told that it was. I asked the soldier if there was a representative of the DCO present and he asked me what a DCO was. Later I found Tomer of the DCO  who was at the humanitarian lane which he did with great efficiency. But now and again the soldier closed the turnstiles and then there was great pressure. It is good that Tomer then tells her it is "worthwhile" to open them. And it is a redeeming feature that women pass in 10 minutes and men in 20. The car lane passed steadily if slowly but when we left there were 20 cars waiting to enter the city.
