Judge: Lieut.- Col. Menahem Lieberman

Investigator: Amar Suleiman

Defense: Fuaz Shaldawi

Only one case in the docket. The detainee is barred from seeing an attorney.

Zahran Ahman Muhammad Zahran – ID 852418128

The first part of the hearing is conducted without the detainee present; the attorney addresses his questions to the investigator. Since his arrest two weeks ago the detainee has been prevented from seeing his counsel.

The police request a 15-day remand extension to complete the investigation. This is his second remand extension.

The defense asks: Has the detainee linked himself to the allegations against him?

The answer is yes, he has linked himself to some of them.

We do not know what Zahran is suspected of, since (in reply to the defense’s question) the investigator says that the information is in the confidential file.

We learn, however, that the suspicions concern only the detainee himself, that he cooperates with the investigation, and that he has not yet given a statement to the police; the investigator explains that the reason for this is related to the investigation itself.

The investigator asserts that, according to the (secret) file, the detainee’s condition is good. He himself has not met him.

The Defense’s summation:

For 12 days the detainee has been prohibited from seeing his attorney; there is no supervision by the court, and 15 days are excessive.

The defense asks the judge to examine the material and consider asking the Shabak [GSS] to shorten the investigation.

We left the court. Even though the detainee was standing outside the remand extension court, the policemen guarding him would not allow us even to look at him.
