The checkpoint is very relaxed this morning. Just a few people go through. Two windows are open.

There are two security guards, one of whom is quite eager to talk and hear my opinion about the situation.

The Palestinians smile and greet me, as they did last Friday.

A very old Palestinian arrives. He forgot his ID at home. Still, they let him pass, to my delight.

Small groups of tourists are crossing toward Bethlehem. The Israeli guide shows them through the checkpoint and lets the Palestinian guide waiting on the other side know that they are arriving. In this area there is perfect coordination.
