Morning

What is the right hour for the passage of agricultural workers in the summer?

07:55 Oranit. We stand in front of gate 1447 which is defined as an agricultural gate. The place is becoming institutionalized and on the Israeli side a shed has already been put up.

According to the civil administrationinfo-icon the gate is due to be opened at this hour. The Palestinians are already waiting on the other side of the fence. One of them comes up to us and tells us that sometimes the gate is opened at nine o'clock only. It is important for the farmers to set out early for work, especially now when Ramadan approaches and the heat is more oppressive.

We phoned the DCO. They are in a meeting. We tried again.

08:20 A soldier and a few military policemen arrive. The sergeant orders them not to talk to us. With the Palestinians, on the other hand, they seem to be on friendly terms, they know their private names and the passage flows quickly. The checking is performed in the middle of the road, without a computer. At Azoun Atma they didn't agree in the past to check without a computer, even in times of extreme pressure and damaged computers.

08:30 Everybody has passed and the gate is being locked. One of the soldiers deigns to talk to us and explains that they began their morning shift very early, but that they have to pass at a number of gatesinfo-icon and that sometimes there are delays.

We tried to talk to the DCO on this but the conversation was cut off time and again.
