 8.45 –  6.35

A'anin Checkpoint, 06:35

The checkpoint is open.  Soldiers and officers from the Liaison and Coordination Administration are standing with their cars on the side of the road below the checkpoint on the slope leading into the valley.  They are moving about in the area but no Palestinian is crossing the checkpoint.  At    07:00 crossing begins, and two tractors cross.  The drivers tell us that there was a delay due to a problem with the computer and that they were processed by the staff who did the paperwork by hand.  We left at 07:05 before everyone had crossed.  One person told us he was in a hurry to Rambam Hospital and asked us, the peace workers, to drive him to the bus in Um el Fahem.

07:20 – Shaked – Tura Checkpoint

Two soldiers are walking slowly towards the checkpoint. Inside the checkpoint there is a group a noisy children who are not crossing.  Outside the checkpoint on both sides there are a large number of vehicles waiting, and workers are waiting next to the turnstile.  Finally the soldiers get to their positions and the checkpoint begins to operate at 07:30.    There is a rumor that there was a problem with the generator.

The first to cross from the West Bank to the seamline zone are the teachers in their car.  The children cross in the opposite direction from the seamline zone to their school in Tura. People told us that the school principal waited until 07:15 and then drove to Barta'a to cross in order to get to school on time.

07:45 -  People are crossing in both directions, but there is still a line of people waiting next to the turnstile.

08:10 – Yaabed – Dotan Checkpoint

A command car is standing next to the concrete barrier. Cars are driving in both directions without being stopped.

08:25 – Reihan – Barta'a Checkpoint

Both parking lots and the road nearby are filled with cars. Workers who work in East Barta'a are coming out of the terminal. People on their way to Jenin are entering the terminal.  It is quiet inside, and one window is operating.
