'Isla

Women and children of Isla have been learning English for the last weeks from Machsomwatch women. They asked to meet us without the children. The goal of the meetings are to strengthen the ties between us though handicraft. At the moment they are most interested in knitting.  We came to the house of one of the woman at 10.00. Only some of the women arrived. Some had gone to Azzun to the funeral of a relation. We had a pleasant conversation getting to know one another. Mainly we spoke about the children. They do not speak a good Hebrew and the conversation is limited. The atmosphere is pleasant.  

Later a husband of one of the women joined us and he spoke a good Hebrew. He works in Israel and describes the problems at the crossing

We left at 11.30 having promised to keep up the meetings.

נשים בעסלה שילדיהן לומדים מזה שבועות אחדים אנגלית בהדרכת נשים ממחסוםווטש, הביעו רצון להפגש איתנו ללא הילדים.  מטרת המפגש הידוק הקשרים בינינו תוך כדי עיסוק בעבודות יד. בשלב זה הן מתעניינות בעיקר בסריגה. 

הגענו ב 10.00  לביתה של אחת הנשים. הגיעו רק חלק מהמתעניינות במפגש. חלק נסעו לעזון להלוויה של קרוב משפחה. 

היתה שיחת היכרות נעימה. דיברנו בעיקר על הילדים. הן לא מדברות אנגלית כך שהשיחה התנהלה בערבית. התקשורת מוגבלת אך האווירה היתה מאד נעימה. 

מאוחר יותר הצטרף אלינו בעלה של אחת מהנשים שדובר עברית שוטפת. הוא יוצא מדי יום  לעבודה בארץ. סיפר על הקשיים שהוא נתקל מדי פעם במעבר.

ב 11:30 נפרדנו תוך הבטחה שנמשיך להפגש.
