16.00 Heavy traffic in both directions at the vehicle crossing.
A steady stream of pedestrians in both directions. Occasionally a queue developed at the one station that was open. For a while, a second station opened.
An elderly man returning to the Ramallah side told us that he always enters at 10 o’clock in the morning. Of course, at that time there is no line. But he complained about the comportment of the women soldier(s) in the booths. They would be lounging, eating, flirting with male soldiers (sometimes embracing) – altogether inappropriate and insulting behavior. It wasn’t clear if he was complaining about a particular soldier or soldiers’ behavior in general.
