Hebron, Sansana (Meitar Crossing)
Meitar crossing.
Many, many cars in the parking lot. No laborers waiting when we cross. Two armed guards stand at the Israeli entrance to the “back-to-back” merchandise transfer lot, inspecting every truck that enters (I hadn’t see such inspection in the past). On our way back a Border Police jeep stood on Highway 60, facing south (we’d come from the direction of Ramadin).
Beit Haggai checkpoint. The soldiers are in the pillbox, not conducting inspections.
Dura-Al Fawwar, Kvasim junction. People go through freely.
Highway 35.
Zayit Crossing: A Border Police checkpoint, a convoy of four army jeeps driving around and around in Area H1. We watched; they seem to be preparing for some operation in Hebron.
Idna-Tarqumiyya. The soldiers came down from the pillbox to set up a checkpoint on the road.
Beit Awwa. The soldiers came down and set up a checkpoint on the road.
The exit from Ramadin. The soldiers came out of their emplacement and set up a checkpoint on the road.
We saw no cars detained anywhere.
There’s still a great deal of snow on the roadside and considerable damage to shacks and greenhouses. There’s a feeling in the air of an upcoming security operation …but for now it’s still quiet.
