Almost no traffic on the way to Hebron along the sad, deserted road.
The guard at the entrance to Kiryat Arba greets us welcomingly and tells the woman who’s with him, who apparently wanted also to “welcome” us in another way, to be quiet (we’re glad he did).
Next to the Cave of the Patriarchs:
1. The Brazilian ambassadors to Israel and to Palestine (the embassy is in Ramallah) are being taken on a tour by Yehuda, from Breaking the Silence.
Yehuda asked me to explain briefly what we do; everyone praises us for our mission and thank us. We’re also invited to meet with Paula Roberto France, the ambassador to Palestine. His number in Ramallah is 02-241 3753.
2. Many worshippers and tourists visit the area around the Cave of the Patriarchs, Beit Hadassah and Tel Rumeida, creating a traffic jam.
Like the Hanukkah candles, we’ve come to dispel the darkness – and apparently we’ll keep coming tomorrow, the next day and the day after… until there’s light.
