When we arrived at 05:10 the line was already long.  The ecumenical volunteer told us it was moving efficiently.  The policewoman at the DCO spoke Arabic and the instructions announced over the loudspeaker were heard clearly.  She also opened the revolving gatesinfo-icon at reasonable intervals and the laborers didn’t complain despite the long lines at all three gates.

The humanitarian gate opened at 06:05; everyone went through quickly.  When there was no longer anyone on line at the humanitarian gate the two policewomen and the two soldiers on duty allowed laborers arriving without bags to go through; this eased the congestion at the revolving gates.  The atmosphere at the checkpoint was calm, though it’s not clear why.  We noticed that the coarse soldier in charge on Sundays wasn’t here today.

We left at 06:50.
