Morning

6:30 Sheikh Saed

There's evidence of some sort of work near the fence extending south. Near the checkpoint, there's a new sign reporting upgrading work for the benefit of the residents, promising parking and the construction of installations for the checkpoint.  No mention of the wall/fence.  People gather round the sign, shrug, and move on.

At the checkpoint, traffic is lively.  Children cross without inspection.  Lines do not form.

Here too children are back to school.

Most of the time the middle checking-booth is not working, creating pressure on the other two.  The lights above the turnstiles, indicating open or closed, blink on and off regardless of the situation on the ground.  People can't tell whether a position is operative, or where they should stand.  Another little humiliation for the occupied on the part of the technologically powerful occupier.
