Meitar Crossing

Since it’s easier to leave through the Meitar crossing at the end of the shift, that’s where we entered

We tried to contact Eid from Umm el Hir so we could come visit and perhaps provide help other than concern and empathy.  That’s because of what Arella, from the Villages Group, wrote about the arrest of three young shepherds and the harsh treatment they suffered.  Eid wasn’t there; she referred us to a friend.  He told us that since the youths had been released (on NIS 1500 bail each), maybe we can help when it’s time for the trial.

Hebron

No problems at the entrance to Kiryat Arba.  Continuing we saw a wide road being paved to Giv’at Avichai.  It should be kept an eye on:  is the outpost being redone?

You can feel school vacation in Hebron.  Many children in the streets, but Shuhada street is still deserted.

We stop at the Tarpa”t checkpoint to see why many men, women and children are gathered there, but the immediately went through with no problems.  One of the Giv’ati soldiers came to talk to us; he’s not familiar with Machsom Watch.

A new sign at the Tel Rumeida junction:  “Tel Hebron, Yishai lands, Yishai and Ruth’s tomb.”

Azzam shows us photos of the day at the beach in Tel Aviv; he’s beaming.  “Mabsut halas,” he says.

We returned on the other road – the industrial zone, Pnei Haver, Beit Haggai.
