Afternoon
Qalandiya was very quiet, almost abandoned.  There was no one in the DCO offices.  About 10 people were standing in line in each of the two active passageways.  The situation remained the same during all our shift.  At 4 PM we noticed that 2 people were waiting by the carousel at the entrance to the DCO offices.  Phone calls to the DCO and to headquarters went unanswered, so we tried our luck dialing Alaa directly.  Much to our surprise he answered the phone and actually ordered the soldiers on duty to let the two into the DCO offices to take care of their problems. About one-half an hour later, we noticed a man who had been sitting for quite some time on a bench in the northern shed.  We approached and asked him if he had a problem and it turned out that he also needed help from the DCO.  Once again Alaa was helpful.  It's very nice when something actually works as it should.
