05:30
When we arrived the lines of people reached all the way to the parking area.  We saw that only three of the five inspection booths inside were open, and almost no one was waiting at them on line.  The revolving gate opened slowly, allowing only about ten people through each time.  We telephoned the Qalandiya police station; they heard what we had to say.  We telephoned the DCO, who told us the officer was on his way.  We telephoned the army humanitarian office, which also heard what we had to say.

The officer actually arrived at about 06:00, and we felt his presence helped speed up the crossing.
Things were different this time.  People stood quietly; no one climbed on the revolving gatesinfo-icon.  Everyone must have learned of the effort made during the past two weeks.
