Qalandiya, Wed 14.9.11, Morning
5.30 am
As usual for this time of the morning there was a very long and nervous line.
We are sure that the police, the military police and the civil administration know that when there is the peak time for workers 5-5.30- 7.00 and only 3 out of the 5 checking stations are opened there will always be chaos and a tense atmosphere. Sure enough when the DCO officer arrived and the 2 extra windows opened at 6.15 everybody stood in line and within a short time- around 7 there were very few people.
We only hope that in the coming weeks the situation at the checkpoint will improve and not worsen so that the workers who whatever the big politics is about will always want to go to work to earn money for their families and the sick will go to hospitals and teachers and nurses to work.
We left after 7am
