Morning

07:30 - Shaked-Tura checkpoint

Due to the declaration of the Palestinian State, there was no school today. Traffic at the checkpoint was sparse and went in an orderly fashion. Each car that arrived, went immediately into inspection.

About ten people waited on the Eastern side of the turnstile. Within fifteen minutes all had gone through.

The driver Y. wanted to bring in a cooking gas container to his home at the Seam Line zone. The soldiers called the DCO who called back approving the transfer. I heard that the DCO people had visited Daher-el-Malec and promised that the village would be connected to electricity, no specific date as of now.

08:5- Reihan-Barta'a checkpoint

Many vehicles in Palestinian car park. Three drivers waited for passengers. Only a few crossed over into the West Bank. East Barta'a's merchants and other workers went through to work. There were no delays except for the few moments where they fixed the gate.

09:45 Five trucks drove into inspection. I've inquired about the boy Meeta, whom the police left at the checkpoint two weeks ago (see my 7/9/11 report), I was told that he ended up getting home safe and sound. I've noticed no special commotion in regards to upcoming declaration of the Palestinian State.

10:15 I drove back through East Barta'a and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
