Afternoon

Etzion DCL, 14:15 pm:  some 80 people were in the waiting hall, waiting there from  the morning. They claimed that about 10 persons had been admitted at 13:00 – no one since. We called the Hotpoint and received a polite reply, as always.

14:35:   two applicants emerged holding their magnetic cards. One claimed that this was his seventh attempt here to receive his card, finally with success. Further people were coming out, merely a trickle. It was obvious that scores of people waiting there would not be attended to today and would have to come again next week. Approaching 17:00, closureinfo-icon of the office was announced. Danni, the officer, came by, listened to the complaints, and listed some 17 people whom he undertook to take care of on the following morning. He also instructed the staff to delay closing the office and attend to those who had already been admitted. People continued to come out of the offices until nearly 18:00. Some 40 people were attended to during our stay at the DCL.

I attempted to talk to Danni about the need to allot the Bethlehem residents another day per week to receive their cards, as one day weekly was certainly insufficient. Danni informed us that he would not talk with Machsom-watch, as one of us had "spoken against him in Beth-El" and because we were "liars".
