Wadi Nar

A surprise awaits us in Wadi Nar -- new concrete blocks between the road to the old Kedar and the turn to the checkpoint.

Beyond the blocks, there is a new road for traffic travelling north to El Azariya.
But what about those who  need the old road?  Now it's clear, they'll have to perform an enormous detour.

Our Abu Dis shifts reported on the paving works in May and June:
"...Traffic from the south of the Weat Bank will be directed to El Azariya along the old descent (the Gihaline we used once upon a time), and one-way traffic from the north of the West Bank and from El Azariya will use the dangerous ascent to the Wadi Nar checkpoint and from there to the south of the West Bank.  A. from the civil administrationinfo-icon is unable to say just when all this will happen. Nor do we know if a manned checkpoint will be set up near the blocks leading to the new Kedar road.  A. too is unable to tell..."

Note: If A. cannot tell, who can? the Palestinians? They are neither the instigators nor the builders of these hallucinatory roads dividing children from their schools, parents from their workplace, and families from each other, to say nothing of the continuing devastation of hills and vegetation.
