In the wake of Avital and Ina's report from last week I should like to add

During our shift on Monday, 20.6.11, traffic changes in Wadi Nar were already in place, and had been, so we were told, since the previous Thursday..  But strangely, and despite no entry signs on both sides of the road going down to the new road to Al Ezariya, many cars, indeed most, ignored the signs and used the dangerous descent intended only for ascent from Al Ezariya.  We spoke to the soldiers at the checkpoint, but they refused to direct traffic in the direction of Kedar, and we heard something similar from the commander of the Envelope.  They claimed that "that's how it always was, and we're not policemen."  Clearly it's now even more dangerous because on the ascent one does not expect to meet descending vehicles.

Another clarification we recieved from the Envelope commander in the civil administrationinfo-icon:
An agreement was signed to pave a road from Sheikh Saed to Sawaharra Al Sharkiya with US AID funds.  For the present it may be used only by a very few.  Lists will be drawn and entrance will be limited to those registered.  We will track the outcome.
