Morning

Habla, Jayyous, Falamya, 'Azzun 'Atma, Observers:)

06:45  Habla

A military vehicle waits at the gate but everything is closed.

06:50  Another vehicle arrives and the soldiers prepare to open.

07:00  The first five people enter and go through 12 minutes later.  The succeeding groups of five come through a little faster.  A total of 20 crossed in 25 minutes, which is slow.  The Palestinians report there are problems with the computer; the soldiers say they’re aware of this and are dealing with it.

07:50  The two buses with pupils arrive and go through pretty quickly.

07:30  Eliyahu gate - About 20 people waiting in line.

07:45  Jayyus  -The gate is open.  The Ecumenicals report it opened on time.  Three tractors with riders arrive and cross.  One man crosses with a sack full of loquat seedlings.  The gate closes exactly at 08:00.

08:10  Falamya - Everything’s quiet.  Soldiers say about 30 people cross early in the morning and then it’s quiet.  One man waits for his son who’s bringing home sheep’s milk from the seam line area.  The son herds the flock there; the sheep apparently sleep in the fields.

09:10  Deir Sharaf – People cross freely towards Jenin.  After speaking with the locals we continue to 'Azzun 'Atma from the direction of Route 5.

10:00  'Azzun 'Atma (the gate on the Elkana side) – The gate is quiet.  It wasn’t open while we were there.
