Bethlehem, Etzion DCL, Sun 30.5.10, Afternoon
3 pm, Etzion DCL: many cars parked outside, but very few people waiting
inside. They show no eagerness to engage us. Upon questioning, however,
we hear that there are many already at the inside windows, and some of the
people outside await them. Indeed, the soldier, who is at his post, opens
the carousel to anyone who approaches. We have little exchange as to
whether it is better to let in all, and have them crowd and wait inside,
or have them in the waiting area till they can be helped. We agree that
some means could be used that waste less of the Palestinians' time.
Maybe "b'yemot ha'mashiakh".
3:45 pm, Bethlehem Checkpoint 300: no lines. We time passage at under a minute.
