Azun Atma

Translation:  Suzanne O.

The children are already selling purple figs.

On Road 5, even before the turning to Azun Atma and the settlement Elkana, the police have put up a makeshift roadblock.  A number of police vehicles hold up the traffic.  A vehicle with Israeli number plates is parked on the shoulder of the road, the driver who looks 'eastern/oriental', stands outside his vehicle.  The police found a heavy pole in his boot and he now has to explain its use.

6:20 a.m.

By the Azun Atma gate the sleeveinfo-icon for those queuing is quite full.  There are two military policemen in the checkpoint but they seem to be working slowly.

The commander is not prepared to open a manual checkpoint.

However, the iron barrier is not locked and those returning to the village do not need an IDF escort to open it.
