Morning

Translation: Galia S.

Taking our usual route, we met very few people and the shops were closed. It seems that the oppressive heat compelled the people to stay at home. We went into a number of grocery stores, all of which looked wretched with very little merchandise on the shelves and when we bought some groceries, they had no change to give us. The money drawer was simply empty. In a talk with the owner of one of the shops, the issue of the peace talks came up and he said that in his opinion none of the present leaders could reach a peace agreement. Surprisingly, he was of the opinion that Liberman was the one who would bring peace.

A clothing shop in Qira, run by a woman, was a little busier. We inquired about the men and we were told that they were at work in Barkan, in a pretzel factory.

The second-hand store we visit each time we are here was closed.

At Huwwara checkpoint and also at Za'tara the traffic was flowing.
