Morning

09:10 - Shaked - Tura checkpoint
When we arrived, the gate was closed, except for  a narrow crack. The soldiers explained that the yellow electronic gate was out of order and vehicles cannot  drive through today and therefore the checkpoint is closed.
The narrow crack was left for pedestrians. Due to all that, vehicles didn't come and there were only a few pedestrians.

All of a sudden a black van, belonging to a resident of Daher el-Malek, near the checkpoint on the side of the Seam Line zone, arrived. The man was nervous and told us that his wife has been inside the inspection chamber for an hour now. We called the DCO and a soldier answered that the woman is "not as innocent as we might think". The husband left and came back, anxious. Once again we called the DCO and said that the man is known at the checkpoint, he crosses the checkpoint in his van twenty times a day.

At that point the Salem DCO commander, Lieutenant Colonel Adel, arrived on the scene. Adel knew what was going on and assured us that all would be ok. The woman came out of the inspection cabin, after staying there for two and a half hours! In her hand were a small plastic bag and a thermos bottle. Adel said that she is the man's second wife and, regarding the lengthy detention, all he was willing to say was that her Tasreech, the passage permit, was not valid.(?)

10:30 Rihan-Barta'a checkpoint
The Palestinians' car park area is filled to capacity. Two trucks with vegetables and plastic chairs are awaiting inspection.
Traffic of pedestrians is minimal.

Vehicles which usually cross over at the Shaked-Tura checkpoint go through this checkpoint today.

11:30
- We leave the checkpoint. The trucks are still waiting to get into the inspection area.
