Morning

‘Azzun ‘Atma

07:20  Ten Palestinians sit on the other side of the checkpoint, awaiting their employers.  The checkpoint is empty.  A male and a female soldier sit in the booth.  The male looks tired, bleary-eyed.  They say that it’s due to them that there’s no one at the checkpoint, because they quickly inspected people leaving.

A small boy, 5 or 6 years old, goes through the checkpoint.  He ignores the soldiers and they don’t pay any attention to him.  During the ten minutes we were there no one else went through.
