Afternoon

The village has turned into a corral, totally surrounded by a fence. Entry and exit are through a checkpoint by showing i.d. At the checkpoint a woman soldier checks the pedestrians' i.d.'s while a more senior soldier guards her. From the nearby watchtower additional soldiers watch the checkpoint.

At this hour most of the pedestrians are workers returning to their village. When they come in groups they know the rules - i.e., not to approach in a batch. Each one waits his turn.  It is a small checkpoint, serving this one village, and it is clear that the woman soldier already recognizes some of them and knows their names.
