Afternoon

Qalqiliya

13:45 – The few cars that enter and
leave Qalqiliya at this hour pass without delays.

The parking lot is full of cars, mainly
taxis. The road leading to Azzun is open. No earth ramparts.

Anabta

15:30 – The works done by bulldozers
and soldiers of the Engineering Corps are in progress. Today's main
work is removing the old asphalt from the road. The bulldozer loads
the scoop with asphalt plates that have been broken first and gets to
dump them somewhere.

A Palestinian, one of the workers on
the road, directs the traffic of cars – quite limited at this stage
– to one lane that goes in both directions. The soldiers don't detain
the cars, which is why there are no lines despite the works.

The soldiers of the Engineering Corps
are busy working on the new fence. It's quite a surrealistic scene.
Two soldiers are standing on shaky, white plastic chairs, tying together
parts of the new fence that has been put up along the road.
